Laying carpet, havnt got the right tools, can it still be done?

Need to lay down some new carpet in the living room and a bedroom. Moneys tight so i cannot afford a professional to fit it so im having to do it myself. Ive looked on line for tips on doing it, seems straight forward but most sites recommend using a 'knee kicker'. I havnt got one of these, cant afford one and do not know anyone with one i can use.

So i really need one and if not, whats the next best way of laying the carpet down.

I have already fitted the carpet grips about 1/2" away from the wall and the wall at the opposite end. Would industrial double sided tape help at all?

I havnt put any underlay down as the carpets got its own underlay underneath.

ANy help would be great :)

If the carpet has its own underlay (which I assume is rubber) a knee kicker would not be of any use.
look at the thicknness of the carpet and replace the grip strip approx. 10mm from the skirting board.
With a strip of off cut tuck it between the skirting board and grip strip then pull it toward you. If it is secure then lay your carpet accordingly leaving one side loose in order to ease it in to its final position prior to trimming.
Remember be sure to tuck it in tightly all round.
Good Luck
Regards
