I usually use a water based fly spray?
I just bought Manna Pro sweat resistant Equine Fly & Mosquito concentrate. I think it must be oil based do you? You are supposed to thoroughly wet the horse but you don't have to reapply for 5 to 12 days. It says to use a quart per application. I hate using an insecticide on my horse but I have never found an herbal one that really works. Do you think the oil based fly spray is ok. It kind of bugs me so I wanted more opinions. You guys are great.
I actually will never use a water based product again after having used Endure by Farnam. It is way superior, and stays on like it should. Unless you lather it off with soap, it builds on the hair and just gets better. I sprayed it on and then spread it with a fly spray mit. I kept the mit in a covered coffee can and just squirted more on if it began to dry out. After awhile I'd just wipe them over with what was already on the mit. If it looked like it wasn't working, I'd spray their coats and spread it, and resaturate the mit. Anyway, it is the best product I ever used, and highly recommend it. And part of it being so good is that it is oil based. it also makes the coat nice and shiny.
Two quarts of oil per gallon
