What You Need To Know About WPC Materials Like Modwood

Wood plastic composite (WPC) products, such as the Modwood brand, are now widely used in many commercial buildings and residential structures. These products are generally used as exterior finishing for buildings, as well as sidings for garden houses and courtyard structures. WPC materials are friendly to the environment because they are made of recycled products.

For example, the products of this brand name are usually a combination of recycled plastic and sustainable wood wastes. The resulting product is a strong material with excellent natural-looking wood finish that requires no more painting and staining to make them more presentable.

However, when using this kind of material, you need to observe proper care and maintenance on a regular basis to make them last long. Similar with other building materials like glass and timber, WPC products can also suffer from stain caused by molds, dirt, and water.

Water stains are among the most common causes of degradation of its exterior especially if water droplets are not wiped off and left until dried. But, stains like these can be removed with ease by simply using a wood cleaning product, which is usually sold in retail stores.

Scratches may also occur when these materials are heavily exposed to both sunlight and rain water. If scratches occur, an application of decking oil can help remedy this issue. Another option is to brush off the scratches using a steel wire brush.

But if you are still going to buy WPC products, it is recommended to go for the ones with brushed-finish since they are more resistant to scratches compared to smooth-finish materials. The only drawback of products with brushed finish is that they are more prone to molds, dirt, and stains. This is rarely an issue for WPC materials with smooth-finish. Either way, just weigh in your options and go for the ideal type of Modwood material that is well suited for your needs, based on your own preferences and priority.
